At the suggestion of Liloo, and because I’ve pretty much run
out of samples for Sample Sunday, I’m starting a new miniseries. I’m going to
start swatching a category of shades from all of the Sleek palettes and
comparing them. I suppose the point is so you can see if the shade you are
lusting after in one palette is actually already duped in one you own! To date
they have released 22 palettes (not including the primer palette) and there is
another Olympic inspired version on its way on July 4th!
I thought I would kick off with purples. All are swatched on
bare skin using one swipe of a finger and are named according to which palette
they are in as not all of the palettes have individual shade names.
Bohemian, Circus Top Row, Circus Bottom Row,PPQ (Swatches in
the same order)
Curious, Monaco, V2 Ultra Mattes, The Original
V1 Ultra Mattes, Curacao, Bad Girl, Sparkle
And finally Acid which incidentally I think is probably the
best of the matte purples from this lot.
Well we have learned that I have enough purple shadow to
last the apocalypse. And Sleek have a penchant for shimmery lilac shades! The
matte shades, as with many brands, certainly do work much better with a sticky
base.
Has this been in any way useful? No? Any other shades you
would like to see comparison swatches of? x

22 PALETTES?! Shocking to think that I own all of those save V1 and V2!
ReplyDeleteI do have a soft spot for Sleek's purples and greens. I love Bohemian's purple and the neon in Acid!
I know I had to count them up several times before I believed there were so many! It's a frightening amount of shadow! Might do their greens next week actually x
Delete22 palettes and I haven't purchased my first one!?! As a purple lover which palette do you suggest I should buy Clare?
ReplyDeleteOoh I'm not sure! If you go over to the menu on the right and look for the Sleek Label you will see posts, reviews, swatches and overviews of all the palettes. Some of my favourites (e.g. Circus and Bohemian) were sadly limited edition although you can normal find them on Evilbay. I do not recommend Sparkle or Bad Girl x
DeleteFascinating to see all the colours laid out like - 22 palettes! Think it's only the PPQ I don't have! x
ReplyDeleteI actually really like the PPQ palette! I wasn't too sure at first, the colours didn't seem very coherent if that makes sense? But I'm surprised to see it's one of the ones I reach for most x
DeleteWow, 22 palettes?! I'd love to depot my Sleek palettes, I have 5, so I could put the colours I use more often together. The peachy palette has some nice colours in it but I never reach for it as I'm scared off by all the oranges and pinks in it!
ReplyDeleteI find oranges and peaches surprisingly wearable (I've done a couple of EOTD posts featuring those shades :). Give it a go! You might love it! x
DeleteDamn only got about 5 palettes. Could you name them all?
ReplyDeleteAnd purple is my favourite colour so great start to the series xxx
Here is a link to an overview post I did with a list a few months ago http://eyeliningobsessions.blogspot.co.uk/2012/01/sleek-palette-overview.html
DeleteSince I did that they have released a couple more. The V1 and V2 ultra matte palettes. Hope that helps! x
That purple from the Original palette is pretty much my favourite purple eyeshadow ever. I need to figure out a way to depot my Sleek palettes as I only ever use a couple of the shades!
ReplyDeleteOoh not sure how you'd go about depotting them. I manage to get some use out of most of the shades but I am guilty of doing the same looks over and over with certain palettes x
DeleteHi Claire, great swatches for people after purple colours. Sleek has really good eyeshadows. I've around 12 palettes and my favs are Bohemian, Oh So Special, Bad Girl, Sparkle and Matte Version 2. I'll pass on the Olympic one as they are a bit bright for me.
ReplyDeleteBohemian is probably my favourite! I definitely want the Olympic palette though. I think it's a good mix of wearable shades and brighter ones and I do love my brights! x
Delete22 palettes? are you kidding me? wow!
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed this post even more than what I thought I would. circus top row reminds me of that duochrome mua purple now,. Ultra matte purple is just shamefully lacking in pigmentation and it probably the worst I think. The original is high on speed. wow didnt realise that it was that pigmented!!
and hurray hurray hurray to my beloved acid.
acid is the reason why i always like around my palette with me, for week ends, when i havent got a clue beforehand of what i'll be doing. Curacao is quite nice. I must play with it. I am content. I think i owe the best purples sleek has ever released

Yup, 22! I got a bit of a fright when I had them all lined up! Glad you enjoyed it :) x
