Sample Sunday – LUSH Gorilla Perfume Sample Sets

Hands up. I’m a perfume slut. I never wear the same fragrance 2 days in a row, I get bored easily. And variety is the spice of life after all. And what better way to keep things spicy than with a sample set? I ventured into LUSH recently and started sniffing around but to be honest picking a fragrance in a LUSH store is impossible. The place just smells so strongly of all the bath goodies that it over powers you and you don’t really get a true sense of the fragrance you’re trying to smell. So in the end I just grabbed the sample sets and ran (well I paid first obviously).

The first set is the standard set of fragrances that are available in LUSH stores. You get 8 2ml sample bottles for £19.95. The second set is the ‘Exclusives’ which I believe are only available on their website. The bottles have plastic lids underneath which is a plastic stopper with little holes in it. One of the lids won’t close properly, ironically on a fragrance called Lady Boy which neither I nor my husband can stand, but the rest seem to close fine.

The Exclusive Set:

The standard set:

I believe these are marketed as being unisex fragrances which is right up my alley. It makes it a little bit better value as I can share these with my husband. Not all of them obviously, some smell obviously ‘girly’ but each to their own. Of course the nature of sample sets is that some you will love, some will be ok and some you will hate. Most of these I either love or think are wearable.

Given that in a set you get a total of 16ml of fragrance I’m undecided as to whether it is good value for money or whether it is a bit steep for samples. The fragrances don’t seem to last too long, I feel the need to reapply after a few hours with most of them, so I can see myself using them up quite quickly. But given the choice between buying one full sized bottle or getting try the whole range? My fickle self will always go for the sample set. So if you’re a bit of a fragrance tart too this might be a fab little present (for yourself of course ;)
