Neutrogena Multi Defence Daily Moisturiser for All Skin Types Fragrance Free SPF 25

I’m shaking my head at that product name. It’s too damn long. Before I launch into a little mini rant about this product I will say that I do really like the night cream from the same range. However this is definitely a product that I regret buying.

All seems well at first. The pump bottle looks fab and is very practical/ sanitary. It only costs £7.99 too. Even better it’s fragrance free! I do prefer my skin care to be fragrance free so this was always going to be a bonus for me. Sadly that is all that I like about this product.

The formula itself feels very light and slippery, much like the night cream. However this takes an absolute age to sink into my skin. I bought this to wear under makeup so I need to be able to slap it on in the morning and have it sink in quickly but I have to leave it about 20 minutes before I can apply foundation. This is no use to me! Yes I know there are versions for oily/ dry skin but they weren’t on the stand in my local Boots... Frankly if it says all skin types on the bottle it should mean it!

But the thing that really gets me is that this is advertised as having SPF 25 but there is nothing to state whether it has UVA protection (so I’m assuming it doesn’t). I should have read up on this more carefully as the SPF is the main reason I bought this. Yet when you check the Boots website it states:

§  protection from the daily environment
§  SPF 25*
(*In vitro test. Formulated to minimize the risk of allergic reaction. This is not a suncare product.)

This is not a sun care product?! For Google’s sake why the hell did I buy it then? So it’s not a brilliant moisturiser for my skin and it’s not really providing me with the sun protection I wanted either. In short no, I won’t be buying this again. Rant over ;) x

    1. Yup! Massive fail. I suspect it might be because it's not a broad spectrum SPF? I'm not sure though x

  2. I picked this up for the SPF 25 and loathe it. It takes ages to sink into the skin and if you don't apply loads and let it sink in for 30 mins + it comes off your face in little flakes. So gross.

  5. If you look at the ingredients, you'll see it contains Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane, also known as Avobenzone, which provides UVA protection. It is also photostable.
