Regular readers might remember that I bought the Laura Mercier
Caviar Cake Liner a while ago and never really got on with it. I was using
water or a Body Shop Vitamin C spray to wet a brush but the result and the
staying power left a lot to be desired. I realised I needed to use a proper
mixing medium with it and settled on the Illamasqua Sealing gel. I didn’t buy
this solely to use with the Laura Mercier liner, you can use this with any
powder product to create a paste to produce your own eyeliner in any shade you
fancy.
You get 2 6ml bottles for £10.50 which seems very reasonable
to me. I like the fact it’s two separate bottles, it means I’m more likely to
use it up before it goes bad as one can remain sealed. You just squeeze a drop
of the clear liquid onto whatever powder product you are using and use your
liner brush you mix it into a paste then draw it on as you would any other
liner. You do need to work quickly as this dries incredibly quickly.
The result is a rich opaque line of colour. This is supposed
to be water resistant. Whilst I find using this means my liner lasts a lot better than if I use
plain old water this will still run a little if you get caught in the rain. If
it doesn’t get wet then this lasts brilliantly all day on me.
One thing to bear in mind is if you do use this on eyeshadow
try and keep to one area in case is causes the shadow to go hard when it dries.
I’ve found this to be an incredibly useful tool and it has given that Laura Mercier
liner a new lease of life x
*Bought by me*

Hi Claire, I passed on buying this when I bought the Illamasqua eye liner cake, as it seemed expensive. I should have bought it in hindsight as it sounds well worth it. I've also 3 of the LM cake liners and could well do with this product now.
ReplyDeleteI personally find it very useful, if not a bit of a faff (no more so than wetting my brush I suppose!). Why not ask them to demo it in store and see what you think? x
