Next up in my UK high street BB cream review series is this
promising looking offering from 17. I have this in the shade Light, it also
comes in Medium although oddly there is no darker shade. I find that disappointing.
I actually really like the packaging. It looks quite sleek
and perhaps more expensive than its £6.99 price tag. You get the standard 30mls
in a travel friendly squeezey tube.
The light shade is actually quite light! It does seem to be
quite pink based so that is something to take into account and on me it does
oxidise a little. It isn’t too bad but it does end up being just a shade darker
than my pasty pale skin. I would guess that in a months time it will be a
better match as the weather warms up.
I am pleased to say that this does meet my ‘BB Cream
Criteria’. It covers well, I would say a good medium coverage, not the full
coverage promised on the Boots website. It protects the skin with SPF 15 and it
is quite hydrating too. The website also states that this will help control
oil, I don’t necessarily find that it does but it doesn’t leave me look like a
grease ball.
The texture is very thick and definitely benefits from
either a stiff buffing brush, damp sponge or fingers to apply it. I found using
any other type of brush left a very streaky finish. Once it is on the skin I
find it comfortable to wear although I can feel that it is there. I personally
don’t mind a thick foundation though.
The finish is very, very flattering on
me. It just glides over my giant pores as if they don’t exist! Whilst it isn’t
a matte finish my any means it doesn’t look overly shiny either. It’s a nice
medium glowy finish although me being me I always powder over it any way.
The longevity is average at best on me but then it doesn’t
make any long wearing claims. If I blot and powder regularly (which I always do
regardless of what I’m wearing) I can get a work day out of this but I couldn’t
wear it for much longer than that.
If you’re less oily than my nose of doom then you may find
that this is a fabulous chuck on and go product for those days when you don’t
want to do primer, foundation, powder etc. For me it takes a little more work
to keep it looking tip top throughout the day but the overall finish is worth
it to me.

I really like this one too. In fact this is my favourite cheap BB cream. I still prefer the Ginvera one over it, but that one is a lot more expensive. I'll probably repurchase this one if and when I run out. x
ReplyDeleteI keep thinking about the Ginvera one but I really need to use some of these up before I buy any more base products. I think this is an brilliant product, especially for the price! x
DeleteI find 17 do lack different shades sadly. They never have colours to suit darker skin tones :(
ReplyDeleteSadly I haven't seen a single BB cream so far that caters to a really dark skin tone :( Which I do not understand at all! x
DeleteHi Claire, Great that this boots 17 BB cream is good stuff. Well worth checking out by the sounds of things. Nice review. All the best !
ReplyDeleteI would say this one is definitely one of the better ones I've found! I would just recommend swatching a tester to see if the thicker texture is for you x
DeleteHi Claire... I tag you to do the 'get to know me' tag... please check that out. If you don't have time to do it, at least read a little about me! :P

Fab thanks Jacq! I will pop over and have a read just now x
DeleteI really love this BB cream - great for a good base in seconds. I often do the pre-school run in this :-)
