Rambling.

AAAARRRGGGHHH. I want to go shopping. Anyone who has ever done a no buy/ project 10 pan style cosmetics ban will tell you that the urge to splurge comes and goes in waves. Some days you really don’t want to buy anything and you feel all smug. Other days you find it unbearable. But I am resisting. Only one month to go! If you’re doing a similar project let me know how you are getting on in the comments. Moral support is needed!

In other news I have taken up running (no choking on your coffee...) Oh yes. I am partaking in actual exercise for the first time since PE at school.

Now I have been blessed/ cursed with a health issue which means that I can essentially eat my body weight in Galaxy chocolate (I frequently do) and remain a size 6-8 (UK) on top and 10 on bottom. It’s great, don’t get me wrong, but I still have lazy girl guilt. Aside from the odd walk to and from work blinking is the most exercise I get. I would like to develop a little bit of muscle tone. Add to that my husband who is a cuddly (slightly bigger) guy who wants to lose a bit of weight and we have decided it’s time to move.

So first step? Research! Gyms? Are you kidding? I would have to remortgage to afford the subscriptions. I’d be no good at those boot camp training type things as I react poorly to men shouting at me (I will fight dirty, it won’t be pretty and I will win). I dislike sports unless it’s F1 or rugby and I’m watching. Eventually my research led me to .... running.

Running? Seriously? I LOATHE running. But in the interests of getting fit and given that the boy has shown some enthusiasm which I’m trying to build on I have bitten the bullet and invested in the appropriate gear. I’ve even found a beginners running guide too, a sort of couch to 5k thing.

May I take a minute to express my distaste at the generally unflattering array of running gear available? For this chilly time of year my options were either leggings (camel toe anyone? I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Leggings are not trousers!) or jogging bottoms. A rummage round my local TK Maxx has lead to me buying a pair of the worlds least flattering trousers. Yes they are comfy etc but they are as clingy as superglue. I’m a slim girl but they do me no favours. But they will do. I even bought the proper shoes and everything!

  1. Oh spending sprees....I lasted my no-buy for a month before I spent half of my last paycheck today on new goodies.

    1. Hey it's still a month with no spending! No sooner had I posted this before thinking I might just chuck in the towel. I had originally only said until April 1st anyway.... x

  3. My spending urges come in waves too, one day there is a product I can't live without, two days later I'm over it. Reading blogs makes it worse! :)
And yes! Leggings are not trousers, they should be treated like tights in my opinion (unless exercising.)

    1. I guess I just don't want the whole world watching my bum wobble as I jog haha. Unless you have body of a goddess they are just not flattering! x

  4. I know exactly what you mean about the waves but then just as suddenly I go in the opposite direction. I can't be bothered and don't even care (weird). Anyway, I've got 3 items to go and I'm not giving up now!!! I just have to make sure I don't go overboard when it's over. They say it takes about 3 months to form/break a habit so hopefully this no spend will result in me being a better, more selective beautyholic!

    1. Good luck! Almost there :-D I officially declared my no buy over. I did 3 months. I decided that was enough. Now as long as I don't go over my £50 per month budget I will consider my lesson learned x

  5. I'm on a No Buy project until I have moved out! Though it was really tough at the beginning I've managed to survive though I have bought a few things but much less than before.

Good luck with your running programme - I could never do it!

  6. I COMPLETELY understand. I am 3 days/lipsticks away from finishing my "shop through your stash" project of not repeating a lipstick till I've worn all that I have. I'm SO sick of it. I was going to wait to reorganize my makeup until I was done - but I have a block of time this afternoon, and might not have any for a while again. But there is light at the end of the tunnel and I'm so proud of myself for getting the whole way through it - and I will never, ever, ever be doing this again. It's kind of made makeup un-fun and that part sucks.

    1. Almost done, don't give up! You will feel really chuffed with yourself once it is finished. I find reorganising my stash strangely therapeutic x
