Some faves, some fails and a meh.

It’s been ages since I did a favourites type of post. I just don’t tend to develop out right favourites but I’ve developed some fairly strong opinions on a few things recently so here we go!

WIN - L’Oreal Telescopic Waterproof Mascara. I’ve only had this for a day so excuse the stock photo. The last couple of weeks have been an absolute shit storm and my frayed nerves mean a waterproof mascara is definitely in order. I just applied this and IT’S FREAKING AWESOME. My lashes are almost touching my brows. I will have to wait and see if it’s waterproof enough though.

FAIL – Me. Only I could manage to be stone cold sober, sitting on my own bed and manage to fall off and injure myself. Don’t ask me how but I’ve managed to smack my face of a wooden chair leaving myself black and blue.

WIN – Vichy Dermablend Corrective Foundation. This doesn’t muck about, it is a full coverage foundation. Granted the bruising on my chin is bad enough to require several layers but this builds well and is the only thing making me look like I haven’t been in a fight and lost.

FAIL – Rimmel Scandaleyes mascara. The mascara itself is fine but the wand is roughly the size of my face. It’s too big (ooh er) which makes it a pain to use. So I don’t.

WIN – The Balm Hot Mama Blush. I’ve been wearing this a lot lately. The peachy colour is very wearable on me and the shimmer gives it enough dimension to not have to bother with highlighter. It’s a throw on and go type of product.

FAIL – Oh look, me again! Muppet here decided in a moment of madness to get her ear lobes pierced again. What’s that you say? Hello Kitty studs?! Don’t mind if I do! Seemed like a great idea at the time until I realised the next day that I am a grown arsed woman and now need to wear these freaking studs for a full 6 weeks to work etc before I can take them out. And the piercings aren’t symmetrical. And I don’t even really like Hello Kitty.

MEH – I’m sorry I’ve tried it every which way but I’m still not loving the Laura Mercier Caviar Cake Liner. It’s working a little better for me now but it’s still more effort to me than the results are worth. Le sigh.

What have you been loving and loathing of late?

  2. I just bought the L'oreal False Lash Telescopic mascara and love it after using it twice.

    Hope you're feeling better.
I had a wheelie bin lid shut on my head yesterday while I was trying to retrieve something that shouldn't have been thrown out. Have a bump today, thank god no one saw :/

  3. Oh, Claire. I'm sure that you look very tough with that chin. ;) Glad you can joke about it.

LMAO @ HK studs!!! I had my ears pierced twice and they closed up each time. WHATEVER. I'm done with that now.

    1. Hehe I look like desperate Dan with this chin. It's all pointy, twice it's usual size and black. Very sexy... I have my lobes done already but wanted two in each ear lobe. I'm bored of cleaning the piercings already... but only 4 more week left now I guess x

    1. Aw thanks Tracy. It will be fine, honest. It was incredibly swollen yesterday but seems to have gone down a lot today. I've been left with some very impressive bruising! x

  5. Hello Kitty studs! LOL FOREVER. :-D

Does Vichy Dermablend ever look cakey? I see the Pixiwoos and Lisa Eldridge use it a lot, but my (vague) memories of the Dermablend products are they are really thick.

    1. I find it can sometimes looks slightly cakey if I use too much on the centre of my face where I am a bit oily. On my more normal areas (like my chin thank goodness!) I can layer it fine without any problems. I have often used it on a scar on my neck and have never had problems with it looking cakey. I don't find it overly thick but if I over apply it is can look a little mask like. I just use it very sparingly and build it up in light layers if I'm covering anything specific. Hope that helps! x

  6. I shouldn't have lol'ed at your misfortune, so I'm sorry, but dear God woman that sounds sore! Hopefully the bruising goes away quickly for ya.

But yes, I concure that the Vichy stuff is pretty awesome, seriously considering a purchase when I get paid, it's awesome for covering and it stays put well.

Again, lol'ed at the earrings, sorry! Where did you get your ears pierced? xx
