Or ‘Great mascara, shame about the smell’. This was another
sample size that came in my Selfridges Advent Calendar. I liked the regular
Hypnose mascara so I was excited to try this ‘added drama’ version. Things
started off so well...
The wand is a traditional bristle affair but it’s a bit
weird. It kind of curves in an ‘s’ shape. It’s wider one way than it is the
other so it takes a little bit of manoeuvring to get to all the lashes without
accidentally blobbing mascara everywhere. Admittedly it took a couple of uses
before I got to grips with it.
The formula is relatively wet and it gives a good deep black
colour. Things can get a little clumpy if you try and build it up too much but
the length and drama it gives with one coat is enough for me. I really like the
look of it. For me it gives a better result than the regular Hypnose mascara. It
doesn’t flake or transfer on me (but then those aren’t problems I usually have
with mascaras).
Where this falls down is the smell. This has a very strong,
pungent almost, floral perfume. The scent itself isn’t overly unpleasant but it’s
so damn strong that as soon as the wand goes anywhere near my eyes they start
watering like mad. Which of course means my makeup then runs... Once the
mascara has dried it’s fine but I find myself fanning my face whilst snivelling
until it does.
In short no, no I wouldn’t buy the full size. But if scented
mascaras don’t bother you then the full sized tube costs £20.50 x

lancome mascaras don't usually work on my lashes, despite the hype... some l'oreal and maybelline are good for me though (same company...?) :P
ReplyDeleteof coz, if scented mascara is not your cup of tea, don't spend that (ridiculous) $$ on lancome~~*
cheers,

I do find thw hole idea of scented mascaras weird. Surely fragrance + eyes = bad things? x
