Illamasqua No18 Lashes

There is no Sample Sunday post today because I’m an idiot. I haven’t tried any samples out in the last couple of weeks. But here is something even better in its place!

In my quest to find a good eyelash glue which is latex free (damn you allergies) someone recommended the Illamasqua lash glue. Sadly you can’t buy it by itself, you just get those piddly little vials that come with the lashes. Get it sorted Illamasqua! These particular lashes are quite dense but not too long. They are great for dramatic looks without being too overwhelming on my little eyes.

As they are dense they do feel a touch heavy. They aren’t uncomfortable to wear but you can definitely feel that they are there. They needed trimming down quite a lot for me but they feel sturdy and I have used them several times with no damage to them. This is important as for £12 for one pair I want to get as much use out of them as humanly possible.

The glue is fabulous too. It is, as I’ve mentioned, latex free. It is incredibly strong too. It lasts though rainy/ windy nights out without lifting at all and actually can be a bit of a struggle to get off at the end of the night.

So do I think they are worth the hefty price tag? Yes. I have been getting a lot of wear out of these. I bought them more for the glue to be honest and this particular style isn’t anything I haven’t seen in other cheaper brands although being Illamasqua they do have some gorgeous flamboyant styles as well. If anyone has any latex free lash glue suggestions that I can buy in a larger tube please do let me know! X

  1. I've tried the 17 lashes before and whilst they looked gorgeous on, I thought they felt a bit heavy too and the band wasn't flexible - I've since been told that you can "snap" the lash band to make it more flexible by wrapping it around a pencil backwards so might have to try that, I found them really fiddly to apply last time.

  2. I have never tried false lashes (nor do I own any), so can't comment on that, but I love your eye make up, so please let me know what eyeshadows you used! It's gorgeous!

  3. I tend to wiggle lashes round for a couple of minutes before applying them for the first time to make the band a bit more flexible Lucy. I'm still learning when it comes to applying falsies. It always seems to take two coats of glue for me for some reason but I'm getting there!

Aw thank you Anita! I actually used the Urban Decay Alice in Wonderland palette. Oraculum on the lid, Queen in the crease, Mad Hatter in the outer corner, Drink me, Eat me in the inner corner and Jabberwocky pushed into the lashline to discuise the lash band a bit.

  4. Try Ardell lash glue, it claims to be latex free and I think it sells in Boots or online fairly cheaply. Loving the eyeshadows used in the photos, neutral shades are beautiful on you :)

  6. Aw sucks about the allergies, duo is my favourite glue. I tried out the glass vial at their make up school and managed to smash mine, so only tried it out once (and on someone else, too). If they sold it separately (or if I ever need some more of their crazy lashes) I too would be all up ons for it. Sorry if this message made no sense, I am way tired xxx
