ELF Mineral Concealer

Way back when in the mists of time I did a huge ELF order for 50% off in which I ordered these two. I wasn’t sure what colour I would be so picked up the two lightest shades (Fair and Light although Light seems to have disappeared from the website. At full price they are £3.50 for 2.84g so I got them for £1.75 thinking if they are crap or the wrong shades then it’s not big loss. I will give you a little spoiler, I am VERY glad I did not pay full price for these.

They come in relatively large sifter jars and like most loose powder products can be extremely messy if you’re not careful. Fair is a very pale somewhat pink toned shade. Light is darker and more yellow. The powder itself feels creamy and comfortable on the skin but my problem with it is the coverage (or lack thereof). I have used every brush I own, tried every technique I can think of but on its own as a standalone concealer this just doesn’t cut it. It cakes horrendously under my eyes and on blemishes just doesn’t hide enough.

Nonetheless you know how I loathe wastage and I have found a use for these. Used on a flat synthetic brush and patted (rather than swept) over the concealers I would normally use for blemishes it does work. It sets the concealer in place extremely well and adds just that little bit of extra coverage. It’s an extra step that I don’t always have the time to do but when I do it does make a noticeable difference.

I don’t quite get why this has SPF15 in it to be honest. I mean I appreciate sunscreen in my products but I just don’t think the extra sunscreen on such tiny areas is going to make any difference. All in all I find these to be a somewhat odd product. The two jars that I have will last be forever so I don’t imagine I will ever have the need or desire to repurchase... x
