I have been inspired by the gorgeous Anitacska over at Pleasureflush to tackle my growing pile of samples. It’s getting silly. There are more hidden under what you can see of this pile...
I just seem to accumulate them from magazines, counters etc. Then they sit there unloved. There are several foundations here, weeks worth of skin care, mascaras, bath products. Inspired by Anitacska’s ‘Project Skincare Samples’ I decided to have a look at that I actually have and to get my bum in gear and use them.
So here we have ‘Sample Sunday’ (catchy no?). Every Sunday I’ll fish out a sample of something, use it and say whether or not I’d purchase the full sized product on the basis of my experience with the sample. I’ll start off with one that I have actually been using for the last week. This is the Clinique Deep Comfort Hand and Cuticle Cream sample.
As a hand cream it’s lovely. None greasy, easily absorbed and definitely moisturising. It claims to be fragrance free though and it just isn’t. To me it smells a bit like the Body Shop Hemp cream which I cannot stand. To me it’s the stench of a mouldy fruit bowel. Even a work colleague commented on the smell and not in a good way. You may of course find that is smells lovely or even doesn’t smell at all but for me it’s a no brainer. I won’t be buying this. If you’re interested though a full sized one costs £14.50 for 75ml x

This is a great idea - I have mountains of sample sachets and tubes too, and hardly ever end up using them!
ReplyDeletewow so many samples - I hardly get that many over here in UK and it`s mainly from mags.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ellie :-) Join in and left us know how you get on with yours!
ReplyDeleteI'm the UK too Pink Dolly :-) A lot of these came with purchases. Often when I order online samples turn up to, No7 often have bags of minis with purchases and I got a whole load of Rituals skin care samples in Heathrow when I bought two items. Sometimes you just have to be a bit cheeky and ask for them!
xx
Great post! Thanks again for the mention! :) I'm slowly chugging through my mountain of samples, and so far the only one I didn't get on with was the Guerlain eye cream. I had a sample of Rituals Hand Therapy and I've just bought the full size product as it's very good!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great idea! My samples definately need some love. Will make this my blog project from New Year's!
ReplyDeleteHi! I used to have the same problem with samples: I just accumulated them thinking "these will come handy when I am travelling"... WRONG! I never carry samples when travelling, who wants to risk a skin reaction when on vacation? I want my favourite trusted products when I am on holidays, that's the way it is! Eventually I have organized them and started using them systematically. As a result I have cleared up a lot of space, discovered some new good items and saved money (a Chanel/Dior/Estee Lauder GWP eye cream in a minitube can last for weeks): win-win-win!
